King of the Hill fans might recall Harcavy, author of the "Musings" column in the Arlen Bystander. Harcavy retired, of course, but we have convinced him to pen occasional missives about baseball, the Braves and the world at large for our humble blog. Herewith, the second.
- Speaking of Kotsay, does anybody still play Yahtzee?
- That Clemens has sure stepped in it this time. He says he had an abcess on his bunky. Well, sir, the way he's been showing it lately we should've all seen it by now.
- Did anyone ever answer the question about where Joe Dimaggio has gone?
- Riddle me why all your field goal kickers in today's football use the so-called soccer style. Whatever happened to kicking a ball with your toe like Tom Dempsey and George Blanda and Lou Groza?
- I see where that Santana fella is soon to be traded. If he's the same Santana that played those rock n roll songs, he must be getting up there for a ball player. And still right good, they say.
- Speaking of our friend Kotsay again, seems to me the Braves have got em a whole passel of kid outfielders down in their training leagues now. What's to come of them all?
- Speaking of Kotsay again, anyone know if Joey Devine is kin to Adrian Devine? Just wondering.
- Speaking of somebody besides Kotsay, is there another general manager named after a bird besides our own Frank Wren? Any Sparrows, Thrushes or Jays out there? Again, just wondering.
- I read where that Chucky James has give up installing windows in the offseason. The Mrs. and I just had some work done over here at Chateau Harcavy and I tell you what, I 'spect Chuck could've done a darn sight better job than the fellas we had working over here. An honest day's pay for an honest day's work, I always say -- but somebody forgot to tell these boys.
- Did you ever think you'd see $3-a-gallon gas? Good gravy.
- They say John McCain's age is an issue. He is a little young for the job, but I b'lieve he can handle it. Ha, ha.
- They say the Richmond Braves are moving to Gwinnett County. Will they be the Buford Braves, or the Sugar Hill Braves, or how 'bout the Hog Mountain Braves?
You all get out and move around some. It's good for the bowels.
