All Hail Larry Wayne Jones!

Chipper Could he reach 400 homers and hit .400, in the same season? He's up to .418 now. He's yet to slump. The guy hitting behind him is finally rounding into form. I'm starting to believe.

As for Cooperstown ... done deal. Chipper's in, most likely on the first ballot barring some unimaginable swoon.

And though he was extremely hittable tonight, good to see the Kid gut it out and get a win. Looks like we can breathe a sigh of relief about BMF, too. Wednesday was (the) abyss-mal, but the Braves came from behind three times this week against the Marlins.

Lest we forget the Phils are in tomorrow. It's not make-or-break, but the biggest series of the young season is here. Philly is proving much tougher than I thought -- even Adam Eaton has pitched well of late. If Chipper isn't the NL MVP this year, odds are it'll be Chase Utley.

One thing I'd like to know: Is Huddy going to pitch Friday? Why no updates from the local daily?

"Jeff Bailey was always a good guy. It was just that lousy dame Kathie Moffat who led him astray."

I love it!

"Our lives were in the hands of a guy who'd sell us both for a nickel."

Jurrjens is tough. He's already learned, at a very early age, how to hang in there without his best stuff and still give the team a chance to win.

The start before this, he took two shots to the chops and still hung tough. That parade of seeing eye singles last night would have broken many pitchers his age.

These experiences will hold him in good stead in the years to come.

Skip said it best about Chipper a couple of weeks ago. On one level, you know how good he is because you see him come through day after day, but on another, you can still lose sight of where he is on the lists and it takes something like this to start to put his career in some perspective.

If Chipper can just play 5 more years and average 20 home runs and 150 hits per year, then he'll be in that ultra-exclusive 500-3,000 club and a sure-fire hall of famer. Here's hoping he continues to contribute at least that long!

Also, kudos to Jeff Bailey, the fan who caught the 400 ball and didn't hold it for a ransom. I enjoyed Chipper's post-game TV interview when he talked about all the video he watches of pitchers and his own at-bats. I hope Francoeur was listening.

According to the team website, Huddy has been cleared. Chipper is playing so well, I guess that series in Cincy qualifies as a slump for him--2 o-fer's out of three...if he ends up hitting anywhere close to .400 for the year, and collects over 200 hits, I don't see any way he doesn't win the MVP.
