KJ drops to 7th
O'brien notes on his blog that Bobby has moved Yesco to the leadoff spot, dropped KJ to 7th and moved Kotsay to the 2 hole.
I like it. Here's the lineup for tonight:
1. Escobar, 2. Kotsay, 3. Chipper, 4. McCann, 5. Norton, 6. Francoeur, 7. Kelly, 8. Blanco, 9. Reyes.

14-23 in one-run games is pretty bad, but 1-11 is a lot worse.

Good point Willie; I guess my main concern with the one-run losses is just that if we're that close, why can't we win a few?
Injuries haven't been kind to us so far this season, but hopefully when we have a full pitching staff (and are able to maintain it) we can build some momentum.
We also need to stop grounding into so many double plays. If we had any speed on this team that might not be such a factor...

I don't think the one-run losses are the dire situation everybody wants to make this out to be. Last year, Philadelphia was 14-23 in one-run losses, yet they still won 89 games. On the other hand, Arizona was 32-20, yet they oly won one more game than the Phillies. The World Champs and team with the best overall record was only 22-28 in one-run loss games.
I would be much more concerned if they were at .500, but losing games in complete blowouts.

I like this lineup; all you do is put Tex at 4 and move McCann up to 5 when Tex is back, and it's even better.
Is it just me though, or is this whole one-run loss phenomenon starting to be like some kind of joke? It's like they got that extra run in the 9th just to make it a one-run ballgame.
One-run losses on the road, every time. I want us to play better, but at this point we're no better than an 82-win team.
That doesn't make the playoffs these days...

The Braves have been going with make-do leadoff hitters for the last several years. Sure, KJ was an upgrade from Marcus Giles, but then pretty much everybody north of the Mendoza Line would be. The bottom of the order is where he belongs.
