Man, I don't like the signs I'm seeing.
OK, first off, we lost today, blew it in the 9th. Not good. You gotta establish a winning attitude early. And letting teams come back on you in the last inning -- that hurts your confidence like nothing else. It's not a good habit to get into, not now, not ever.
Second off, Bobby ain't trying. Did you see that box score? I never heard of most of those guys. Nice. First game out and you put a bunch of unknowns behind Huddy. What's he going to think of that? Again, you install a winning mindframe early and carry it into the season.
Third off, the Braves got five measly hits today. Five in nine innings. That's, what, a hit every other inning? That ain't gonna cut it against teams like the Mets, people.
Fourth off, I saw something on the Atlanta Urinal (ha, hah) blog the other day about Frenchy swinging for the fences in batting practice, not trying to hit one to the opposite field. Great. Chipper said he's just like Andruw. Get ready for 200 strikeouts and a .230 batting average from our golden boy.
Fifth off, Smoltz isn't going to pitch in many exhibition games against big leaguers. Is he scared? Is he hurt? Is he the manager? Since when do the inmates run the dadgum asylum? I don't like it -- lack of leadership from Bobby, and it's gonna make the other players worry about one of their ace pitchers.
Sixth off, you heard any of the radio reports from the camp? These guys aren't running enough. They show up, play catch, take a few swings and hit the golf course. You gotta be in shape. Come August and September, you gotta be mentally and phiscly tough. When injuries wreck the team this year, we'll know why. Bobby is TOO SOFT on these guys.
Seventh off, Prado and this hot shot Lillisomething-or-other both struck out twice against the Dawgs. If they can't hit off college pitchers, how the hell are they gonna compete with John Santana and Pedro Martinez? Get rid of these guys while you can.
That's about it. I ain't feeling good about this.
-- Duane from Forest Park (That's me with my honey. She gets a little wild when she gets into the zinfandel.)
Say what you want about Duane, but that boy nows him some baseball. Tell him to hit me up for some dinner at the Barbeque kitchen out on Virginia Ave down by the airport.

Could you guys tell Duane not to park his RV behind second base again?

Preston Hanna looks like he's ready for a breakout season. Don't get your dauber down, Rowland.
